Mortimer Goth first appears in the original The Sims as a pre-made Sim, married to Bella Goth with one daughter named Cassandra. The family resides on a lot with a haunted graveyard seemingly populated by relatives. In The Sims 2, the Goth family now includes a younger son, Alexander, and Mortimer is an adult, not an elder. Before the events of The Sims 2, Bella disappeared, having seemingly been abducted by aliens, so Mortimer lives with Cassandra and Alexander. In The Sims 3, set before the earlier games, Mortimer appears as a child living in Sunset Valley, but he is not depicted as Bella's childhood friend. The Sims 4 depicts an alternate version of Mortimer as a young adult living with Bella and their children Cassandra and Alexander.

In Their Own Story

In The Sims 2, Mortimer Goth is a retired elder living in Pleasantview with his wife Bella and their children Cassandra and Alexander. However, before the events of the game, Bella disappeared, having seemingly been abducted by aliens. As a result, she does not physically appear in the game without cheats or modifications. In The Sims 3, set in an earlier time period, Mortimer is a child living in Sunset Valley and is shown to have been a childhood friend of Bella Bachelor (Bella's maiden name). The Sims 4 presents an alternate version of Mortimer as a young adult, living with Bella and their children.
